Visiting with a Team

Chain of Love has been blessed with some fantastic Gateway Teams over the years. If you have not yet been on a Gateway team, serving here in Brazil, we invite you to plan to come soon. Projects

New Office Renovation —Our administration office, where Christopher and Telmo work, is cramped and stuffy. Counseling and daily interaction with house mothers, staff, volunteers, and the children are difficult with everybody running into each other. Our solution: move their office into another part of the building where adequate ventilation can be installed (heater/air conditioner) and where there is adequate space to work and serve our workers and children.
The cost for this project, including office furniture and air conditioner, is $2,000 USD/CAD. Status: Completed

New Fans —All nine houses need bedroom wall fans. During the summer, these rooms get very hot, making it difficult for the children to sleep. They and the houseparents are begging for fans but we simply don’t have the funds. If you want to help make a room of children happier and more comfortable while they sleep, please consider helping.
Each fan costs $90 USD/CAD and we need 18 of them. Status: Completed

New House Retrofit —After ten years, wear and tear sure adds up! Perhaps you or your church group could take on an older home retrofit project. A fresh coat of paint, general repairs, furniture replacement/repair, appliance replacement/repair, and termite control can make a home look new again. Our immediate priority: fix the tile floors in House 5.
The cost to do this floor is about $1,500 US/CAD. Status: $500.

Dental —Many children who come to Chain of Love have never used a toothbrush, let alone seen a dentist. Since their dental hygiene is at our expense, here is another real need with a real face. Your contributing to our general fund is greatly appreciated. Status: ongoing.

Fire Safety —To meet the fire code and avoid fines, we must have a fire extinguisher in every building.
Cost per extinguisher is $40 USD/CAD. Status: we still need 5 fire extinguishers.

School Materials —Just as you send your children to school each day, please remember that Chain of Love does the same for 90 children! Even if it’s something simple like paper and pens—never mind craft supplies and books—the amounts add up quickly. Please consider donating to our general fund to help purchase school supplies. The average cost for each child per year is $75 USD/CAD. Status: ongoing.

Appliance Repair/Replacement —As our campus ages, our heavily used appliances require more and more maintenance. Could you help replace an aging appliance? Right now our priority is gas dryers at a cost of $800 USD/CAD each. Status: Need 8.

Medical Needs —Surgeries, glasses, trips to the doctor, we pay for them all. Helping us defray these ongoing health costs is most welcome. Status: ongoing.
