Thiarles - House 1

Thiarles (trying to say Charles) is from a sad case of incest where the father is also the grandfather. It is highly suspected that he was also sexually abused, as well as extremely neglected. He and his sister have been in a Christian half way house in Porto Alegre, run by the Christian and Missionary Alliance, since June 22, 2005. The parents have lost parental rights.

It is said that Thiarles is intelligent, caring, dynamic, involved and happy. He warms up well to adults. He likes to be called Chocolate! (From Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) We noted right away that he wants to play video games. He has bronchial asthma and is taking medicine for it. Thiarles has been placed in House No. 5 with Deni & Tadeu.

January 2007 Update: Thiarles is 5 years old. He loves to play. Thiarles participates at church by singing in the Christmas cantata, and attending Sunday School. He is sweet, charming, and is great at P.R. He loves the Lord.

2008 Update: Thiarles is six years old and in grade one. At home his job is to pick up the shoes and organize them. He also tries to clean the bathroom, but because he is young he needs help. In his spare time he likes to play with Lego and learning blocks. He also loves to play “doctor”, taking his parents’ temperatures and caring for them while they are “sick”. He is a very communicative child, with lots of charisma and people are attracted to him. He attends Sunday School and is growing spiritually.
Please pray that Thiarles will keep healthy and continue to be a joy in the lives of others.

2009 Update: It is good to know that Thiarles thanks his house mother for the meals she makes. His hypersensitivity leads to temper tantrums and the emotional instability is a challenge. Please pray for his behaviour to improve both at home and at school.
