Kemile - House 2
Kemile came to us in March of 1996 and is adjusting fairly well. She is a wisp of a girl and still doesn’t really like to eat much. Here is her story . Kemile came to us with her older sister and brothers: Katiúscia, Deivid and Dionatan Schenckel from a family of nine. One has already died and one was given away some time in the past. They all have different fathers. The mother is a large black woman and is presently in jail facing several charges of drug trafficking. She has been in jail waiting for her trial. In the meantime the 7 children were given to an aunt to raise. She tried for a few weeks, but because of her own drug habits was not responsible enough and so the 7 were left to fend for themselves in an abandoned house for more than half a year.
Kemile is almost 12 years old and in the 6th grade. Currently she is taking an art class and a singing and praise class at our technical center. She is a quiet girl with a gentle heart. She can often be found playing with her sister Aniele. They like to play dolls and dress up. She also likes to play with her younger brother. Please pray that the Lord will continue to help Kemile grow in His strength and love.
Update: Kemile is now taller than her house mother. She is also better after her bought in the hospital where she fought a viral infection in the brain.
January 2007 Update: Kemile is 13, and in 8th grade. Kemile has made a commitment to Christ and has been baptized. At COL she took the cooking, computer and choreography class. She is quiet and private, but she is very observant and is quick to notice what pleases God and what doesn’t please God. She loves her COL family and feels like she belongs. At church she likes to sit between Raimundo and Eli (her house parents). She is very rooted in the family. She has become a great helper in the kitchen. She has developed at school as well. She does her chores and is very obedient. Main Prayer Request: Kemile had Rheumatic Fever as a child and needs to take a penicillin shot every month until she is 28 years old. She dreads this and has asked God to give her enough faith to be healed.
Main Prayer Request: Pray that she would accept this fact and believe God can heal her if it is His will.
2008 Update: Kemile is fourteen years of age, attending grade 9 in the mornings. Her chore at home is to wash the dinner dishes. In her spare time she likes to play with Barbie dolls and give manicures. She is very quiet, seldom talks and seems very dependent upon other people. She is active in the youth group at church, has received Christ as her Saviour and is baptized. She is growing well in her Christian life. Please pray that she may gain confidence from the Lord to be less dependent upon others and that she would take more interest in her studies.
2009 Update: Kemile has loyal friends to help her through difficult times. She has recently moved to a private school with higher standards and finds history to be a challenge. She is still adapting to her new house mother and needs prayer that she will make good decisions regarding her future.
