Juliano - House 1
Juliano Ribas Leuck. Born Dec. 16, 1994. His mother abandoned him and an older brother when Juliano was 2 months old. The father is an alcoholic and abandoned him at the boy’s grandfather’s place. He would periodically come by and beat on him and tell him that it would have been better if this pest (Juliano) had not been born.
When Juliano was 7 his grand mother died leaving him with only the grand father. Another poor aunt is raising his older brother. At this point, the grand father is dieing and could no longer take care of him. The social workers are taking care of the paper work so that we get the guardianship, since no one knows what the drunk father is capable of doing once the grandfather dies.
Juliano looks at COL with hope. He really wanted to come and now that he is with us, he hopes to be able to study. He is presently in grade 4. He is a calm boy and gets along with everyone. He felt at home his first day with us.
January 2007 Update: Juliano is 12 years old and in 6th grade. He has made a decision for Christ but has not requested baptism yet. At the homes he takes guitar and computer courses. At school he is involved in voice and music appreciation. At church he was involved in the Christmas cantata, adolescents and boys brigade. He has developed intellectually. He is very bright. He has a very good memory and is very good with math. He is very easy-going.
Main Prayer Request: That he may take advantage of all that COL offers. That God would help him overcome the problems he faces when he has visits from his biological father who is an alcoholic.
2008 Update: Juliano Ribas is thirteen years old and in grade seven. His work at home is to set the table and take out the garbage. He likes to take the courses that are offered at COL and especially enjoys leather work. He is sweet when people do what he wants but can be stubborn and angry when they don’t. He is active in Sunday School and the adolescents’ group at church and is a leader of a young person’s music group. He is growing spiritually, has accepted Christ and been baptized. Please pray that Juliano will continue to want to learn.
2009 Update: Juliano is working very hard at school and getting good grades. He is eager to find work but has not succeeded. We pray that he would find a job and make wise choices for his future.
