Gabriela - House 4

Gariela’s story is a very sad one, even though you can’t see it in her eyes. Her father originally had three children with one woman and then left this woman to be with Gabriela’s mother. Gabriela was the fifth child that this couple had when the father decided to abandon Gabriela’s mother and return to be with his daughter from the first woman. Gabriela’s mother is mentally incapable of taking care of her.

Gabriela and her mother were placed in a teaching situation in order for her to learn how to take care of her and learn how to meet her needs. Gabriela’s mother took no interest in her and only fed her when the others prompted her. She never touched her daughter or showed any type of affection. She basically left her in the crib all day and never noticed when she needed to change her or to feed her or how to interact with her. The authorities in this facility tried to work with the mom but to no avail. They had heard about Chain of Love and asked the judge to place Gabriela with us because they knew she would be well taken care of.

Gabriela came to us with the clothes on her back and a stomach full of coca-cola, as someone thought she was thirsty and could drink it. After a good bout with the hiccups, she settled down and let the loving hands at Chain of Love pass her around.

Gabriela is now almost 2 years old and is a very sweet young girl. She is a little bit shy when you first meet her but eventually she opens up once you talk to her. She loves to be with her brothers and sister in her home at Chain of Love. She is very smart and has learned all the childrens songs at church. Please pray for the continued growth and bonding between Gabby, as she is called, and with her new family. Gabby has become very talkative. She tells the older ones what to do.

January 2007 Update: Gabriela is 4 years old. She is very open to the Lord and is very fervent in her faith. She is a natural evangelist. She is developing very well and is very perceptive and intelligent. God has used her several times to exhort and encourage the house parents.

Main Prayer Request: Gabriela is up for adoption and the house parents have applied for it. Pray that the Lord would grant it as she only knows these parents and loves them very much.

2008 Update: Gabriela is five years old and attends kindergarten in the afternoons. She thinks she would probably like to be a teacher when she grows up. She wants to help with many things at home but is too young to manage those tasks. She enjoys drawing and is a very loving child. She is active in the Sunday School and the Friends of Missions organization at the church. She prays and the house mother tells her Bible stories. She knows many of them and is always anxious to pray for someone who is sick. The house parents would like to adopt Gabriela so please join us in prayer that this process will be able to take place.

2009 Update: Gabriela is in the process of being adopted by her house parents, Cesar and Marli. Her challenge is to get up early in the morning to go to school. Please pray that she will learn to read well this year and that she will stay healthy, since there are numerous cases of H1N1 in the area.
