Dionatan - Boys Youth Home
Dionatan came to us with 3 younger brothers and 1 younger sister. This is a very sad case of an alcoholic dad becoming extremely violent. The mom was a dedicated hard worker trying to make the best for her family. She worked separating garbage and tried to get as much government assistance as she could for her kids. The kids really loved her and respected her. She finally told the dad that he needed to leave because he was so violent. He came home in a rage and killed her by putting an ax through her head. He justified this by saying that she was seeing another man. He then told a neighbor what he did and said he was going to go after the children too. The neighbor called the relatives and they took them to social services who then brought them our way.
The family has been kept together and is living with Marli and Cezar in a rented house off campus. The boys have really taken to Cezar because they never had a good dad. Dionatan was taking Guardanol because he was beaten so badly on the head from his father that he suffered from seizures. The kids are still having a somewhat difficult time with Marli because they don’t want her to replace their mother.
Dionatan is now 17 years old and in his first year of high school. He is currently taking a mechanic course and working in the parts department of a car dealership.. Dionatan is involved in church and youth group. He plays guitar in a band at church. He is a little bit shy but has a friendly personality. Dionatan is a very good soccer player.
Update: Dionatan writes his own praise songs and the adolescent band learns his music.
January 2007 Update: Dionatan is 19 and in his last year of high school. He has made his decision to follow Christ and is baptized. He works in a car parts company and studies as well as takes guitar lessons – guitar. He is involved in the youth and adult worship band and is very responsible. He is docile and expressive, obedient and neat.
Main Prayer Request: To continue this way and that God would lead his future as well as dedicate as much time to studies as he does playing the guitar.
2008 Update: Dionatan is in his first year of university education and attends classes in the evenings. He wants to be a civil engineer. A home he works to wash dishes and clean. He enjoys playing the guitar in his spare time and is in the process of buying a car. He is quiet but very friendly. He has grown a lot in his spiritual life, has accepted the Lord as his Saviour and been baptized. He plays guitar with the praise team at church services. He has a wonderful, Christian girlfriend. Please pray for Dionatan that he will be able to reach his goals and bless others.
2009 Update: Dionatan is taking 4 courses this semester for his civil engineering degree plus an English course. He is passing well and though he had difficulty with one course he was able to work hard and pass. His challenge is to manage and continue to be responsible with his finances as he recently bought a car. Please pray that he would forgive his father for murdering his mother and agree to meet with him when he visits. He is also very busy with his work, studies, his girlfriend and worship team practice and needs balance to keep everything going.
