Dienifer - House 4
Dienifer came to us with 4 brothers. This is a very sad case of an alcoholic dad becoming extremely violent. The mom was a dedicated hard worker trying to make the best for her family. They were a very poor family. She worked separating garbage and tried to get as much government assistance as she could for her kids. The kids really loved her and respected her. She finally told the dad that he needed to leave because he was so violent. He came home in a rage and killed her by putting an ax through her head. Leonardo (her younger brother) tried to wake her up because he did not realize she was dead. The dad justified his actions by saying that she was seeing another man. He then told a neighbor what he did and said he was going to go after the children too. The neighbor called the relatives. One aunt made the funeral arrangements.
The family has been kept together and is living with Marli and Cezar in a rented house off campus. The children have really taken to Cezar because they never had a good dad. The kids had a somewhat difficult time with Marli because they didn’t want her to replace their mother. Please pray God can use this trauma to bring them to Him.
Dienifer looks a lot like her house sisters. She has grown to love her new family and helps take care of her younger brothers and sisters. She is 11 years old and in the 4th grade. She is also taking several courses at our technical center, including cross-stitch, art and a praise and worship class. She has a pleasant personality and is always smiling.
Update: Dienifer is loving but quiet. She is involved with the sewing class at the technical center. She also loves to be involved in drama and choreography.
January 2007 Update: Diênifer is 12 and in 6th grade. She has made a decision for Christ and is baptized. At COL she took the computer and craft course. She is quiet, a good pal, good student, and likes to stick around the house mom. At church she takes part in Pioneer Girls, S.S., pre-adolescents and sang in the Christmas cantata.
Main Prayer Request: That she would begin thinking ahead to future goals.
2008 Update: Dienifer is fourteen years old and in grade seven at school. She would like to be a teacher or a manicurist. At home she is her house mother’s right arm. She takes over when she is away. She bakes, cleans and helps with the laundry. She is very quiet and obedient and enjoys doing manicures in her spare time. She is growing well in her spiritual life, reading her Bible and praying aloud with the children. She is active in Sunday School and the adolescents’ group at church. She has accepted the Lord as her Saviour and been baptized. Dienifer misses her biological mother but loves her house mother. Please pray that she will some day have a loving husband to fill her need.
2009 Update: Dienifer will be starting a special course to enable her to get a job. She is finding Math a challenge this year. She asks for prayer that her biological father would sense the need for God in his life.
