Brunninha - House 8
Bruna Alexsandra da Silva Braz was born Feb. 27, 2000 in Novo Hamburgo and is in Grade one. She was put up for adoption twice. Both times she was returned. At four years of age, the Social Workers were going to send her to CHAIN of Love, but instead, tried to have her adopted. It never worked out so she came to us April 4, 2006. Her brother, Guilherme, has been with CHAIN of Love for about 4 years.
She has been placed in House No. 8 with Nair and Enaldir. Her parents lost their parental rights and she was placed in the half-way house until now. Her story is a very sad story of abandonment as her mother couldn’t afford to take care of her. Bruna immediately called her housemother, Nair, “mother.” When she first came to her new home, she commented to her new house mother that it was a very nice home. She also asked if she would be staying there permanently. She was so pleased to be told which bed she would have. She was fitted with some nice clothes and seemed so happy.
January 2007 Update: Bruna is 7 and in first grade. Bruna is new at the homes and is first hearing about Jesus. She has learned to take part in the family prayer time and really likes to go to church and Sunday School. She took part in the Christmas cantata this Christmas. When she came she was very immature for her age, talking baby talk, bed-wetting and wanting to be spoon-fed. Nair, her house mom, has worked hard and she is talking more adult-like, eating with her utensils and does not wet the bed anymore. She says she wants to be a doctor and has a real heart of gratitude. We have noticed a real “mental block” when it comes to trying to read or write. This will be worked on by her house mom, school teacher and psychologist. She is very smart and sharp. She loves to play with baby dolls, especially changing their clothes.
Main Prayer Request: Pray that she would come to know Jesus as her Saviour and that she would be freed to learn to read and write.
2008 Update: Bruninha is eight years old and in grade one. She is behind in school and has difficulty understanding. She hopes to be a doctor when she grows up. At home her work is to dry the breakfast dishes. In her spare time she enjoys playing with dolls. She is a very friendly and loving child. She attends Sunday School and the Missions Class and is growing in her faith. She has already accepted the Lord as her Saviour. She especially likes to pray and often volunteers to pray for someone who is sick. Please pray that Bruninha will understand her school lessons more easily and that she will catch up in her studies.
2009 Update: Bruninha is now starting to succeed at writing words. Concentrating and focusing on her studies at school is a challenge for her. She asks for prayer that she would pass her year at school and also that she would get some new sisters.
